Volume Three:
Production Notes

And then there were three…

The FTR Team is back with its third installment.  And much like the bubblegum color scheme of our artwork this time around, Volume 3 is packed with plenty of flavor for your crowds to chew on!

01. SINGLE – NATASHA BEDINGFIELD – 84 BPM
Natasha’s latest, “Single”, is a little down-tempo pop number that gets the Full Tilt treatment courtesy of Ben by adding a simple backbeat and intro/outro to make this track workable for both dancefloors and mixshows alike.
02. BAD DAY – DANIEL POWTER – 85 BPM
Newcomer Daniel Powter has made quite a splash with this record, and while it may not seem like an obvious track to remix, it’s become a bit of a crowd-pleaser that we felt was worthy of a Full Tilt-style makeover. Marcus bumps up the original tempo and adds some additional percussion to give “Bad Day” the extra oomph it needed for your crowds.
03. GIMME THAT – CHRIS BROWN (FEAT LIL WAYNE) – 87 BPM
Chris Brown returns with his latest, and much like his previous efforts, “Gimme That” is steadily climbing the charts. Marcus provides both a little boom throughout his remix (courtesy of some well-placed 808 hits) as well as some subtle echo and vocal effects to help really make this r&b gem shine.
04. WHERE’D YOU GO – FORT MINOR – 90 BPM
“Where’d You Go”, the breakthrough single for Linkin Park alum Mike Shinoda’s new group Fort Minor, has quickly pushed its way to the top of the charts. Marcus leaves the majority of the track intact, using only a few simple filter effects and an old-school backbeat to add a bit of extra flair to this simple and touching song.
05. ME & U – CASSIE – 100 BPM
Newcomer Cassie’s debut single, “Me & U”, has slowly been gaining steam for a while now. Ben delivers a clean and effective remix by adding some extra percussion and a clean intro and outro that compliment the original song, making this remix a perfect fit for both your mainstream and rhythmic sets.
06. SAY I – CHRISTINA MILIAN (FEAT YOUNG JEEZY) – 100 BPM
A classic old school vibe permeates Christina’s latest release, and Marcus emphasizes that vibe by slipping a classic break-beat underneath “Say I” along with some well-placed echo and filter effects that really highlight the melody of the song.
07. HIPS DON’T LIE – SHAKIRA (FEAT WYCLEF JEAN) – 100 BPM
There’s just no getting away from “Hips Don’t Lie” – it’ll surely go on to become one of the biggest records of 2006. Ben gives this hit the FTR treatment, using bits from both the original and the remix; the end result is a terrific reworking that’s true enough to the original while throwing a few surprises into the equation.
08. BUTTONS – PUSSYCAT DOLLS (FEAT SNOOP DOGG) 105 BPM
The PCD’s are on a roll as “Buttons”, the fourth single from their debut album, pushes its way up the charts. Ben uses the version featuring Snoop Dogg and gives us a clean and simple remix of this future hit!
09. MOVE ALONG – ALL AMERICAN REJECTS 110 BPM
AAR returns with “Move Along”, the follow-up to “Dirty Little Secret” (featured on FTR 1). This mid-tempo rock tune gets a stellar remix courtesy of Ben by putting those classic old school breaks to good use throughout his reworking. The final product is a great rock track that’s both dance floor and mixshow ready!
10. PROMISCUOUS – NELLY FURTADO (FEAT TIMBALAND) – 114 BPM
Nelly Furtado returns from an extended hiatus and delivers the biggest hit of her career thus far – “Promiscuous” is absolutely destroying the charts at the moment! Ben takes the reigns on this peak-hour monster and gives us a solid reworking by sprinkling various parts of the vocal throughout the remix and giving the song a much needed intro.
11. SO WHAT – FIELD MOB (FEAT CIARA) – 120 BPM
It’s been a few years since Field Mob first hit the scene with the excellent “Sick Of Being Lonely”, but they’re back in ’06 with “So What”, an up-tempo number featuring a great guest vocal from Ciara. Marcus adds a little old school electro-style flavor to the song, complete with a few samples and stabs from his (we kid you not) old Casio VL-1. A future hit in the making!
12. RIDIN’ – CHAMILLIONAIRE (FEAT KRAYZIE BONE – 138 BPM
The latest from Chamillionaire has slowly become a multi-format hit - “Ridin” presently sits nicely near the top of both the mainstream and rhythmic charts. Marcus delivers a complete FTR makeover – new double-timed percussion, some well-placed echo effects on the original melody, and an intro and outro that’ll work great for those of you who like those longer beat-mixes and segues.
13. ‘THE FATMAN & THE FATBOY’ (BREAK TRACK) – 96 BPM
The first of our two break tracks is a simple combination of familiar elements that really all seem to work well together. If the name seems a bit odd at first, give this break track a quick listen and it should be pretty obvious where the title comes from!
14. ‘THE BUSTA MONKEY’ (TRANSITION BREAK TRACK) – 102/120 BPM
You read correctly – Volume 3 features our first ever transition break track. We’ve been reading your emails and this idea’s been suggested by a number of you. Breaks like these just make it that much easier to move from one tempo range to another in your nightly sets. Marcus delivers a simple transition piece here that draws from two bona-fide crowd pleasers that just work well with one another.
  15.
16.
MOVE ALONG (LOOP TRACK) – 110 BPM
RIDIN’ (LOOP TRACK) – 138 BPM
It wouldn’t be a proper FTR installment if we didn’t include the ever-popular loop tracks. This time around, Ben gives us a quick bed from his “Move Along” remix while Marcus provides us with some bonus beats from his Chamillionaire remix.
