Volume One:
Production Notes
It’s hard to believe but after months of planning and prep work, the premier issue of Full Tilt Remix is finally here!  We thought it might be a good idea to give you guys a little bit of insight as to how the tracks on our debut issue came about.  With that in mind, let’s take a peek at Volume 1…

01. Photograph – Nickelback
No doubt about it – “Photograph” has easily become one of the biggest rock hits in recent months.  It may seem an unlikely candidate for a remix, but Marcus delivered a simple reworking of the track by giving it a clean intro and outro, a little extra percussion, and a slight tempo boost up to 80 BPM.
02. Grillz – Nelly (Feat Paul Wall)
Nelly’s latest adds yet another bona-fide hit to his collection.  Our remix stays true to the original, adding a little extra juice to the rhythm and lead-in while keeping the original structure of the song largely intact.
03. Check On It – Beyonce (Feat Slim Thug)
There’s simply no getting away from Beyonce’s latest smash hit!  Marcus added a little extra punch to “Check On It”, giving us a workable intro and outro as well as a couple of well-placed stutter and filter effects near the start and finish of the remix.
04. So Sick – Ne-Yo
With the nearly instant success of “So Sick”, Ne-Yo is on point to becoming one of the biggest new stars of 2006!  Our remix on Volume 1 is simple and straight-forward, adding just a touch of backing percussion to the original as well as a few subtle filter and delay effects for good measure.
05. Stupid Girls – Pink
Pink is back and her latest is shaping up to be a major hit for early ’06.  Marcus gave us a respectable overhaul on “Stupid Girls” by adding some filtered bass and guitar samples, both taken from the original, to help transition in and out of this great pop record.
06. Beep – Pussycat Dolls
The PCD’s are on a roll and their third single is shaping up to be yet another major success!  Ben’s crafted a remix that’s true to the original, adding a much needed intro and outro to the song along with some well placed effects throughout.
07. Shake That – Eminem (Feat Nate Dogg)
Ben’s remix of Slim Shady’s latest is the pefect example of the Full Tilt production philosophy – a simple remix that adds just a bit of extra percussion to the equation as well as a clean intro and break at the end.  The end result is an instant club and mixshow hit!
08. Walk Away – Kelly Clarkson
This former American Idol winner (and now Grammy winner as well!) delivers yet another infectious pop/rock record.  There aren’t that many current hits in the 110 to 120 BPM range for DJs to pull from so “Walk Away” seemed like a natural contender.  Our remix sports a simple intro and outro with a few roll and echo effects throughout the song.
09. Control Myself – LL Cool J (Feat Jennifer Lopez)
Teaming up once again to deliver another smash hit, “Control Myself” features one of the most hypnotic bass-lines we’ve heard in some time.  Marcus reworked the original to give us a smooth intro and outro, and even incorporated a few samples from the Afrika Bambaataa classic (“Looking For The Perfect Beat”) that’s featured in the song.
10. Temperature – Sean Paul
Sean Paul kicks up the tempo for his latest single, which has been heating up (pun intended) clubs and mixshows all across the country.  Ben gives us yet another simple interpretation here, adding just a few rhythmic elements here and there to give “Temperature” a little extra spice.
11. Crash – Gwen Stefani
It seems there’s no end to the chain of hits that Gwen’s delivered from her debut solo album.  “Crash” is a welcome throwback to the days of 80’s freestyle, and Marcus’ remix highlights that by incorporating a few familiar samples and elements from that great era of dance music.
12. Dirty Little Secret – All American Rejects
Rounding out our debut issue is another great rock hit, this time from All American Rejects.  Up-tempo rock hits are somewhat few and far between at times, so we thought “Dirty Little Secret”, clocking in at 143 BPM,  would fit nicely in the lineup.  Ben delivers a simple remix, adding a 32/32 intro as well some nicely crafted filter effects to ramp in to and lead out of the song.
13. There It Go (The Whistle Song) – Juelz Santana
Okay we lied – we just had to add one more cut to the lineup before we could call it quits!  This time around, Juelz Santana wraps up the issue with “There It Go” – a major hip-hop crowd-pleaser in recent months.  Marcus’ remix keeps the original largely intact, adding a few extra doses of that signature whistle to the song as well as a Run DMC sample that fits well with the track’s title.
